The Original Miura Show Chassis
Before Nuccio Bertone (with Marcello Gandini and Giorgetto Giugiaro) draped the Miura in perhaps the most beautiful automotive body of all time, it was Gianpaolo Dallara and Paolo Stanzani who created the chassis, with an engine evolved from a Bizzarrini design. This chassis was shown at the 1965 Turin Auto Show, resulting in several orders, regardless of final form. I'll add more later, but here are some pictures of the chassis, shown at the January 2009 La Jolla Motor Car Classic.
It was a treat to see, despite the ravages of time. The chassis does not appear in its original show form as several parts have been scavaged for other cars. It will be restored by Bobileff Motorcar, and I look forward to seeing it returned to how it looked when it stunned the world and ushered in the modern supercar.
More to come.
